Each tile occupies ((length + grout) / 12) × ((width + grout) / 12) square feet. Mortar coverage is the current Custom VersaBond TDS (product-pdf id=1389), buying the low end of each band — 90 sq ft for 1/4″ square, 60 sq ft for 1/4×3/8. Over 15 in on the long side, this tool switches to MAPEI LFT at 38–45 (buy 38) and leaves mortar dollars null.

Current TDS-119 id=1389 is 90–100 / 60–67 / 42–47. The 3/4″ U-notch is two rows (34–38 @45° and 42–47 @30°), not one number. Oct 2021 sheet still said 85–95 for 1/4″.
What calculator.net does not show
Geometry sites divide floor area by the tile face and call it done. They also still quote the October 2021 VersaBond sheet: 85–95 sq ft at 1/4″ square and 60–67 at 1/4×3/8, with tile-size notes (<8 in / 8–15 in). The current document at product-pdf?id=1389 is 90–100 / 60–67 / 42–47. Published Date on that file is August 27, 2021. The 3/4″ × 9/16″ × 3/8″ U-notch is two rows, not one number: 34–38 sq ft at 45° and 42–47 sq ft at 30°. This calculator does not collapse them.
VersaBond $11.98 is the 50 lb HD SKU on 2026-08-27. It is applied only on the VersaBond trowel path. Large-format tile wants an LFT mortar; we will not pretend the VersaBond bag is that product.
Worked US example: 10×10 floor, 12×12 tile
1/4 in grout, 10% convention, 1/4×3/8 trowel (8–15 in default), VersaBond $11.98.
Unit check: 12×24 tile on 110 sq ft, 1/4 in grout, 0% waste → 54 tiles. Longest side 24 in is an LFT path; mortar $ stays null.

Accessed 2021-10-28. https://www.custombuildingproducts.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/TDS-119.pdf — Older sheet still circulating: longest side < 8 in use 1/4″ square-notch at 85–95 sq ft; 8–15 in use 1/4×3/8 at 60–67. The current id=1389 chart is 90–100 / 60–67 / 42–47. This calculator uses the current chart and cites the 2021-10-28 sheet so the 85–95 number is not silently reused.

Accessed 2026-08-27. https://www.mapei.com/us/en-us/products-and-solutions/products/detail/ultraflex-lft — When the longest tile side is over 15 in, VersaBond is the wrong product class. This tool’s LFT button buys at 38 sq ft/bag on a 38–45 planning band and leaves mortar dollars null. MAPEI Ultraflex LFT published trowel rows include 40–50 (1/2 in square) and 35–40 (3/4 in U-notch); confirm the bag in your hand.
